Organisational Consulting

I have worked with teams, groups, and individuals in organisations on and off since 1999. My work in this area is characterised by three approaches.

I am a certified level II user of the Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) which I have employed in consulting teams organisations as well as individuals who are struggling with work and personal questions. I am available to conduct individual or team sessions varying from, excluding testing time, an hour (individual) or half day (group) to several days, depending on the level of depth and practical application your question requires. For more on this approach, see the page on MBTI team workshops.

I also bring the perspective of Tavistock Group Relations theory to bear in helping organisations and teams to make sense of their dynamics, and providing individual role consultation. I find that the Tavistock approach to the study of  power, authority and leadership in organisations, by looking at unconscious processes in groups, is very illuminating for understanding the powerful hidden dynamics influencing teams and organisations.

Finally, coaching generally works best with a highly focused and structured, goal oriented approach. This is not unlike short term cognitively oriented psychotherapy, only the questions or issues being worked on in coaching may have a more work-related emphasis, and the solutions may be more practical. For more on individual coaching or role consultation, see the page on coaching.
